Meetup Silence Due to Rain

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Yesterday it rained so consistantly that I didn’t leave the house. I stayed indoors the entire day. I wanted to go out but because of the never-ending rain I never set foot outside.

I considered going for a run but by the time I had digested I considered that the rain would be soaking. I don’t like not going out.

I could have gone for a meetup event on Saturday and enjoyed snow, crampons, plenty of climbing and descending, while hiking. I didn’t feel like travelling for hours and spending 60 CHF on public transport for the second weekend in a row.

By finding groups that do linear walks I should be happy, because that’s what I wanted to find, but I’m not happy that it becomes so expensive. If I drive to a VF or hike it will cost me a quarter of a tank, at most. That’s 20 CHF or so, and if I car share, then that’s worth the logistics of organising to pick people up.

I will get the half fare for the train eventually and that will give me a lot of freedom but I want to be certain that my new habit will be a consistent one. I would still like to do multi-day trips.

A few years ago I had a scuba diving group, a climbing group and a hiking group so I had two to four things to do every single weekend. At the moment I’m lucky if I have one thing to do. As the snow and cold have proved, summer is not here yet, so we still have to be a little patient, for the right amount of inertia to arrive.

And Finally

I enjoy that ir rained for the entire day yesterday. Normally they announce rain and I’m excited for it, and then it never comes and I’m dissapointed. This time they announced rain and it fell for hours in a row. This is good news for the crops, trees, rivers, the water table and more.

It’s also good to take a day of rest, every few weeks, to do nothing, and recover. I could have gone out yesterday but my waterproof trousers are torn and I need to get new ones.

I believe that nothing was planned for Sunday, because of the rain. If the weather had been good people would have made plans.
