I think that tomorrow I will wake between 05:00-05:30 to be ready at the meeting point to go for a bike ride that starts at 06:30. The start is early because it is meant to be a “ride before work” for this group.
The pace is tempo. On the flat I expect to be okay. It’s on the climbs that I expect to be left behind, between Tartegnin and the turn where if you go right you go to Signal de Bougy and if you go left you go through cement roads.
Once we reach 892m in elevation it is downhill all the way back to the start.
On Meetup I expect not to know much about people until we do an activity together. When we do events via Strava it is a shame that an AI model does not estimate how fast the group is likely to be.
In theory I can check profiles to see how much cycling people have done recently. In practice people keep their accounts private so it’s hard to get any information, other than name, and that they’re participating. The only way to find out is to participate.
It is because of that uncertainty that I am treating today as a rest day. I prefer to be fresh for tomorrow.
Freeing Up The Day
Wake Up and Run and Cycling at 06:30 have the same advantage. You get up when it’s cool to have a workout, and then you’re free to have the rest of the day to focus on work, especially in a cooler location. At this time of year the lunch time walk involves walking under a warm sun. By going for a morning run, or bike ride, you avoid that heat.
