The Sound of Rain

Reading Time: 2 minutes

If I look across from my apartment I can see plenty of pigeons lined up in a row. It’s raining heavily and they are not flying. They are just sitting on the roof, letting the rain water trickle down from them onto the roof below. I assume that in this weather pigeons don’t want to get their entire body soaked. They prefer to sit and huddle.

Staying Safe

I am waiting for the rain to stop before driving. I don’t need to rush to do today’s chore, and when I do this journey the battery for the electric car should be at one hundred percent anyway, so I can afford to wait for the rain to slow down.

Long Walks Despite Rain

Yesterday I waited for the rain to stop and managed a one and half hour walk without getting rained on, or even too muddy. I was happy not to have mud caked shoes. It’s probably due to the roots I walk. I stopped walking along the river where it was often muddy and I stopped walking up a muddy path. The result is cleaner shoes.

We need rain, to fill underground water reserves, but also for the trees, plants, rivers and lakes. We also need it to clean the air, and to help clean roofs and veluxes. Solar panels should see their efficiency go up, now that they are cleared of weeks of dust.

Shoes and Toothbrushes

Yesterday I decided to try cleaning the soles of my shoes with a toothbrush to see whether that works. It takes less space than the other brush that currently lives in the post box for when I come back from muddy walks. With a tooth brush you can clear away mud with more precision than with an ordinary brush, which is good for the small gaps that unworn shoes tend to have.

And Finally

The rain is forecast to stop around lunchtime and then we will have several days of good weather, before more rain.
