Lovely Rain for More Than Five Minutes
For the first time in months it is raining properly. We don’t have torrential rain, and we don’t have drizzle. We have proper rain. Proper river filling rain. Proper lake filling rain. It’s the type of rain that falls and hydrates the soil, the planets, the lakes and more. It’s the type of rain that cleans roads of their greasy films.
It’s the type of rain, where if you walk in it for five minutes you will be drenched. It is the type of rain that cleans veluxes, and potentially cars. It’s the type of rain that makes a nice change from constant sunshine.
This is the type of rain that wets and then gets absorbed by the soil. It’s the type of rain that becomes persistant. This is the type of rain, where, if you go for a trail run too soon after it stops, you get covered in mud. This is real rain.
I wanted this rain, and I’m glad we have one day of interesting weather. When it is sunny and warm every day, rain becomes a treat. Especially when we have no social runs or bike rides. Having said this, during the heat wave I went for a bike ride and the tarmac was so warm that water that fell on it warmed up, and when that water splashed my feet, it felt warm and pleasant, rather than freezing, like the rain and small hail that seemed to be falling on me.
This afternoon we will go back to sunshine and by Monday and Tuesday we get back to 27°c. We have a three day break, during which Minergie buildings can finally cool down a little.
I look forward to more rain
