Autumn Laziness or Rational Decision

Page content

This morning I set the alarm to wake me at five but I didn’t get up. I felt tired and decided I need sleep more than a bike ride. I don’t know whether I am affected by the seasonal change, or whether I am still tired from this weekend. Waking at 4am wasn’t that hard on Friday, but after cycling hard on Saturday, and hard on Sunday I need time to recover.

A Familiar Walk

Yesterday I went for a nine kilometre walk and I felt fine during the walk, but after sitting for dinner I felt that my legs were still tired. I pushed hard for four days in a row.

Rain and Rest

It’s not just that I pushed hard for four days in a row. It’s also that I expected it to rain for the entire week. Psychologically I was ready for a lazy week. Due to the weather forecast being wrong, yet again, this week is sunnier, or at least less rainy than anticipated.

When you see that it is meant to rain you feel the need to take advantage of the good weather. If you don’t, and if it rains, then you wish you had made that extra effort. On the flipside if the weather is overcast, but not rainy you feel like resting, instead of taking advantage of the good weather.

Evening Rather Than Morning

Usually I like to get up in the morning for activities. This morning I felt tired so I chose sleep and recovery over getting up early. In so doing I missed the morning ride but on Wednesday I can choose between having a morning, or an evening ride. This week, for a change I chose the latter.

I don’t know what the course will be for this evening.

And Finally

Last week, or the week before, we went for a ride in the morning. It was dark and cloudy. The sunrise was nice but within minutes clouds were blocking it so the ride was dark. That same afternoon the sun was shining and I thought “Why did we ride when it was unpleasant. This evening I am doing the opposite. It might pay off.
