twitter

Dear twitter friends...

Mark Douglass - 23rd Mar, 2009 I thought it was a joke at first as well, but I did see this coming. Sounds like you’ve been pretty frustrated with Twitter lately. I followed your secondary account, but won’t be offended if you don’t follow back ;) Best wishes, Mark warzabidul - 23rd of Mar, 2009 It’s no joke, I did delete that account. I have a backup of my last 3800 tweets on that account and thousands more are backed up on various portions of the web, either through tweetbackup, greader or others.

Dear twitter friends...

Dear twitter friends I have deleted my main account due to tired I am with twitter and it’s poor performance. I am in other places. I’ll catch you there.

The twitter schedule - updated

For two years I’ve been using twitter and during that time I have spent far too much time on the site. As a result I built many friendships. Always paying attention to twitter, even when mobile was a great way of using twitter in the past, but due to people having less time every day to tweet I am adopting a new twitter usage model. I am now scheduling when I will be active on twitter.

Recommending my twitter friends with MrTweet

Whilst I listened to MrTweet speaking on the Net@Nite podcast from several month ago I found it interesting that he spoke of the re-tweet as giving credit to those you follow who share some interesting links. If you spend a lot of time on twitter though after seeing the same retweet too many times you may not follow them anymore. What I propose is to use MrTweet’s recommendation instead. The process is simple.

Twitterfall

If you love watching trends on twitter then twitterfall is for you. It takes into account the top ten trends or so and automatically updates with the latest tweets from the whole of twitter. It’s great becaues you can see the trends in real time without following six thousand people. A mere 340 should be enough ;-) [gallery link=“file” columns=“2”] On a more serious note it’s a very useful tool. You wake up in the morning and see what are the top twitter stories of the day within a very short amount of time.

You may notice my generosity is zero. That’s because I don’t like RT as I think they pollute the timeline. By the same opportunity I have stopped following over 150 people on twitter.

Don't rely on twitter in case of Emergency.

Snowboarding is a fun and safe sport as long as you know what you’re doing. Occasionally of course we push the limits. A few years ago whilst snowboarding with someone around La Dole we decided that rather than go back down via St Cerque we would snowboard home by passing over the ridge and down the other side. For decades both us had hiked those slopes so we knew them well.

Whether Friends count more than followers

Alex Leonard - Mar 0, 2009 I think the time sensitive point is a very valid one. Mico-blogs, whether twitter or Jaiku etc do not exactly lend themselves to ‘catching up’ and nor would you really want to, being that so much is relative to a particular moment in time. You know me. I would rather read your blog and participate there, where it’s not time sensitive rather than on twitter where people don’t seem to have the time anymore.

Whether Friends count more than followers

As you know I’ve been working on unfollowing more and more people over the past few weeks because I felt I was missing the tweets by those who want to participate actively with me. The consequence is that I’ve found twitter to be more sociable once more. According to a recent article what I felt was the case has been demonstrated through research. the number of total posts eventually saturates as a function of the number of followers.
