twitter

I am 25,000 tweets old

Half the amount of tweets from a few months ago and far less than was my habit until now. This should be the normal twitter amount from now on. Don’t have as much free time for the social media anymore.

Twitter down, massive surge in users recently

For all those that thought twitter was finally a reliable service with a crappy api there is some sad news. Due to a massive increase in the number of users (according to a number of sources) twitter is once again providing a truly rubbish service. We’ll see how long they’re going to be unreliable this time.

Twitter as a way of life

Twitter is not a social network, rather it’s a way of life. The more you use Twitter the further it gets into your way of life. It allows you to follow current affairs, geek out about social media and keep in touch with friends that uses the social network. What’s more it’s a network that does not require any specific device. At first it’s a confusing place. Look at the public timeline and it’s a torrent of junk and sifting through it will take hours a day.

Twitter's broken again

Roland Hesz - Apr 2, 2008 This happened to me in the past month. I was surprised, but as I just tried to use the mobile phone version on my new phone, I guessed it was the result of that. The weird thing is that it never happened since then. You have an idea what and where can cause his problem? (Just curiosity. The one that killed the cat.)

Twitter's broken again

Yes, it’s happened yet again, twitter is broken again but in an entirely new way. At first it appeared that twitter had crashed in the old way, that is to say no server response. This time is different though. We’ve got the WML website version showing. The mobile version is now on the web version. Does this mean we’ll see the replies tab on twitter mobile? I really hope so. I want to see how people respond, no point in tweeting if you’re not listening.

Quotably following Conversations on twitter

Quotably is a new service that allows you to easily follow people’s conversations by typing in their username. It displays the most recent conversations and shows the original post as well as the discussions that have occured as a result. It appears to work by taking the most recent @ reply from one person to another and displaying. Here are a few examples: Warzabidul Jeff Pulver Fred2baro These are examples where you can see a lot of conversation because these users are active in their responses with those following them.

The twitter colour wars and sheep mentality

Nicole - Mar 3, 2008 hey! my avatar was that color before any team stole it. i’m just sayin. I did not know it was a colour war, I just noticed I am followed by Aqua whatever, and then I followed back. Thanks for clearing it, I was totally clueless about the whole thing. I joined my team of choice of a humorous whim - it was under my nose when I logged in and it appealed to my sense of whimsy.

The twitter colour wars and sheep mentality

As if zombie slaying, vampire biting and sheep throwing weren’t enough the facebook lunacy has reached Twitter via Zefrank and the stupid colour wars. As if the conversation was not interesting and fulfilling enough for twitter users there is now a movement to create a colour war encouraging people to split into groups. I dislike this movement for a number of reasons. For a start it’s a complete waste of time because it does not require people to do anything in the physical world.

Socialthing aggregating several websites at once.

I’m active on more social networks than I have time to go through in a day and that’s where Socialthing comes in. It allows me to follow news from facebook, twitter, pownce, tumblr, flickr, vimeo and livejournal. What I like about this site is how easy it is to see everything that goes on. Whereas friendfeed is nothing more than a few lines of text this version of a social feed aggregator is the visual aspect.
