Film Commentary Kill Bill - Vol. 1 Kill Bill by Quentin Tarantino is more of an experimental film exploring the manga genre. It’s got some interesting stylistic elements Scarface An all time Al Pacino classic film. A drug lord builds his way to the top of the group but once he reaches the pinnacle he falls back down. Goodfellas About a boy who grows into the Mafia and becomes one of the most people around.

Hong Kong Films

Film Comment Once Upon a Time in China Box This is a Hong Kong film starring Jet Li as Wong Fei-hun who is fighting for the rights of his people whom are being sent as slaves to California. At the same time he must save his Aunt from Chinese forces coming into conflict with the slave traders armed with firepower. The One In a world of Parallel universes each time a version of yourself is killed the remaining versions gain power.

War Films

e Were Soldiers Vietnam War film based on a book by Lt. Col. Harold Moore starring Mel Gibson. The film is about a group of soldiers whom are dropped in a location from which they draw heavy fire. They are aiming to survive as long as possible before re-enforcements may come to relieve them. Among the people there is a journalist and this character’s evolution throughout the film is a powerful element of the film.

Comedy Films

Film Commentary Amelie Amelie as it is called in England but “Le Fabuleux Destin D’amelie Poulain is the story of a fairly ordinary girl whom through finding a box full of objects decides to return it to it’s owner. When she sees the effect it has on the owner she decides to begin start helping others. The film is beautifully shot, the editing is very interesting and there are many amusing moments.

Greenhouse effect (global warming)

Describe the role of greehouse gases in maintaining mean (average) global temperature. - The gases in the atmosphere are natural, for example swamp gas or methane comes from swamps , cows etc as it has done for many years, unfortunatley there is more and more of this gas produced leading to global warming. These gases are what keeps the planet at a farily constant temperature since in space there is a very large diurnal range varying from freezing to extremely warm in such a way as to prevent life.

Rainforests once covered 14 percent of the Earth’s land surface, now they cover 6 percent and experts estimate that the last remaining rainforests could be consumed in less than 40 years.
