That wasn’t fast enough. They had decided to call it a night. As this impacted my mental health I decided to go for a run.

Often you see people are out, and you know they might call it a night by the time you get there. I had that thought. My decision was "If they have called it a night, by the time I get there, then at least I will have had a second walk."

A Quick End

In the end they did call it a night, and as two couples headed one way, and a third couple headed another I headed my own way. I walked towards the train station, and then I started the trackers, for my run.

The Base Run

The Garmin Instinct 2 wanted me to do a 35 minute run at base level, so I think I did that. I ran for those 35 minutes and I wound my way back and forth, mainly along lit streets. Of course I had a cycling light with me. In fact I had two. One for position, and one for lighting the way.

As I had not planned to run I was not dressed for running. I was dressed in normal cloths and my pockets were quite full and heavy. Despite this I did not feel that my running was being hampered. I did put my phone in my back pocket.

Brilliant

I was running with the Ravemen 300 in my hand and it felt surprisingly good. When I saw cars or people I pointed it towards the ground, and when I passed in portions where the lighting was bad, I lit the path ahead of me. I was surprised by how well it fit into my hand, and how comfortable it felt.

It is not designed for running, but it is nice and light so it’s great for this niche use.

A few weeks ago I had gone for afterwork drinks and the experience was re-energising. Yesterday it was the opposite. It was positive, but not as positive as I had hoped.

A Lot of Walking

For some people, the walk between Eysins and Nyon is long, but for me it is short and comfortable, because I have done it so often.it’s around 2.8km each way. I had already walked around 9km in the afternoon.

A Luxurious situation

When you get used to walking everywhere, and especially in walking regularly, distances that required a car, no longer do. You think nothing of walking six kilometres on the off chance that you meet people for a social drink, before heading home, even after an earlier walk.

And Finally

I am a strong believer in "Mobilité Douce". In my eyes being able to walk, instead of taking the car, buses or other forms of transport is a luxury. I appreciate that I can walk from A to B, without worrying about distance. I might do that walk again tonight.

Reading Time: 2 minutesLast night, as I finished dinner I noticed that others were out so I joined them within twenty minutes or so.
