It’s meant to take three and a half to four hours but we did it in a little over 3hrs, despite snow conditions.

The first part of the walk is urban, but right before you start climbing you have an épicerie where you can get a pain au chocolat or ever breakfast. You then walk up 1050 steps, before getting onto the real hiking part of the walk.

You walk through a few villages of which Caux and more.

During this walk I felt fine, until we reached the snow. Around this point my legs began to feel tired. I could feel the lactic acid build up so I had to slow down and try to give my legs time to purge. I don’t know whether it’s walking at a slower pace than if I was alone, or if it was the effect of altitude. On other walks I haven’t felt it like this.

I suspect that being at the back of the group, walking at someone else’s pace contributed to my fatigue.

This is a hike that I have thought about doing for years. I know the Rocher De Naye, Jaman and other parts well, having hiked around here many times over the years. The key difference is that this time it was in winter, rather than the middle of summer.

I want to do this hike again, in spring or summer, maybe even Autumn.

Reading Time: < 1 minuteIf you’re looking for an uphill walk that is more physical than from Nyon to La Dôle and Leukerbad to Lammenhütte then the walk from Montreux to Jaman will meet your requirements.
