This morning it has been raining heavily for hours. I stepped outside to get 4 season tyres from the post box for the bike and my back was quite wet after a few minutes.

Such rain might feel limiting if it fell several times a week, but it doesn’t. It usually falls heavily for a few hours, and then it stops for a few days, before coming back. If I want to go outdoors, I will need to wait until this afternoon today. It’s meant to stop at 1500 or so. That’s when I can go for a run.

I keep questioning whether my happiness with walking changed due to wearing Trail Glove 7 shoes, neighbours complaining about mud, dangerous drivers, or dangerous dogs. I think that all of them contributed to the change in my walking and running habits. If you’re pestered by aggressive dogs, careless cars, and whingy people, because of muddy shoes, then the daily walk is less fun.

Today I don’t plan to walk. I plan to run. I thought that the run would be in the rain, but luckily it seems that it won’t have to be. I will be able to run in the afternoon, without rain layers.

I considered running to a meeting, and back from a meeting yesterday but chose not to. I chose not to run because sometimes clothes smell when we heat them up but also because I prefer to be clean when meeting new people. On the way back I didn’t run because I wasn’t dressed for running, but also because running uphill is more strenuous, and recently I feel better about running five kilometres at a time.

I like the sound of the rain, and I like that it cleans roads and other objects and surfaces. It also allows nature to become green again, and to look more appropriate for the region. I welcome rain.

It’s nice that we have a day of listening to the rain, and roads being cleaned. Tomorrow will be a good day to go for a bike ride, especially since the rain seems to have been preceded by a warm wind.

Reading Time: 2 minutesYesterday I walked with a light rain coat because it rained a few times during the day.
