People go to Umbria for various reasons: the religious significance (Assisi and other locations connected with St Francis), the monuments (Perugia), the summer cooler than in the plains and the big cities. My personal bias is towards the small towns perched on hills - where, sometimes, it's hard to remember in which century we are - and the food: wholesome, tasty, unpretentious but full of surprises and discoveries, in every good restaurant. |
